Sending a campaign with Iris

Iris can walk you through a first email campaign, from checking that you're ready to send through to the day it goes out. It takes about ten minutes. Under Marketing → Campaigns, choose New campaign. To use the editor yourself instead, choose Write it myself.

You can stop at any step with Save and finish later. The setup waits for you at Marketing → Campaigns → New campaign, and anything you've saved is already there.

1. Ready to send

  • Your sender. What your customers will see in their inbox, your reply-to address (confirmed with a code we email you) and the postal address that goes in every footer. See Your marketing sender.
  • Sending limits. How much you can send each day, in your first week and after, and your monthly allowance. See How much you can send.
  • Permission. You can only email people who agreed to it. Iris shows how many have. If it's none, she stops here and offers to ask your customers, since there is nobody to send to yet. See Who you can email.

2. What it's about

Choose a product, your online store, an open menu cycle, or just news, then one of the three templates and an accent colour. Names, prices and links come from your business, so they are always right. A product's photo shows in the preview but can't go in the email body.

3. Who gets it

Iris suggests audiences that fit what you chose, such as everyone who bought the product, everyone who bought from its category, people who bought it but haven't in 60 days, or everyone who agreed. You can also pick one of your saved segments or build your own. The count and the people left out (no email, unsubscribed, never agreed, or only known from a marketplace) are shown before you choose. See Grouping customers with segments.

4. The email

The subject and message are filled in for you and you can change anything. Send me a test goes to you only. The email is saved as a draft as you write. Nothing is sent or scheduled yet.

Asking Iris to write the opening

If Iris's writing help has been turned on for your account, the email step shows Ask Iris to write the opening. You can type a tone first (for example "warm" or "short"). Iris suggests a subject and an opening line, and nothing changes until you tap Use this. Then the subject is replaced and the opening line is added at the top of your message; the rest of your message stays as it is.

Iris only sees your business name, the name of the product or menu the email is about, and the tone you typed. She never sees prices, dates, links, customers or allergen information, and she is told not to mention them. If a suggestion breaks that rule it is thrown away and you can try again. Always read it before you send. The text is written with AI by Anthropic.

5. When it goes

Choose Send it now or Schedule it for a day and time in your business's time zone. Iris tells you what your daily limit means for this email, for example "about 100 of your 340 go out on the first day, the rest follow". Then review the subject, the audience and the time and tap the button. That tap is the only thing that sends or schedules the email. Iris never does it for you.

A scheduled email can still be changed or cancelled from the campaign's page until it goes out. One that's sending can be paused there.

After it goes

The campaign's page shows delivered, bounced, marked as spam, clicked and unsubscribed as they come in, plus the orders that followed. An order counts when the customer received this email, ordered within the window shown, and the email was the last one they got before ordering. Sales on marketplaces or through your online store are never counted, because nothing ties them to the email. See Campaign reports.

If you leave

Choosing Start over removes the draft campaign and the audience Iris made for you, as long as nothing has been sent and no other campaign uses that audience. A campaign that has already gone out, or is scheduled, is kept. Requests you sent asking customers for permission are never undone.

This guide covers the Iraca app and its add-ons. The Iraca Marketplace is documented separately.
