Chat with Iris: ask, follow up, get where you need to go
Iris is the assistant built into Iraca. Ask her about your business, or how to do something, in your own words. She answers in a short conversation, shows your figures in cards, and gives you a button to the screen or guide where you do the work. Ask a follow-up and she remembers what you just talked about.
Where to find her
Click Iris's head at the bottom right of the screen (Chat with Iris). The chat opens as a panel on the right; on a phone it fills the screen. The panel stays open while you move around Iraca, so you can follow her directions without losing the conversation.
You won't see the button:
- on the Point of Sale screen,
- in fulfillment mode on a tablet,
- while one of Iris's guides is open: the guide is already Iris, step by step.
If the button isn't there anywhere, the chat isn't turned on for your workspace yet. Ask Iris (Ctrl+K) still works. See Ask Iris.
What you can ask
When the panel is empty, Iris says which screen you're on and suggests three or four questions to start with. Or type your own.
- Your business: sales over a period, orders by status or by number, products and what's running low, what your stock is worth, what customers owe and who's late, profit and loss, and what needs your attention today. These are the same lookups as Ask Iris, and you only get the ones your role and plan can see on screen.
- How to do something in Iraca: how do I receive stock?, how do I send an invoice? Iris reads the matching help article, sums it up in a few sentences and shows a card with Read the article, which opens it in a new tab.
- Where to go: when you want to do something, Iris adds a button: a task such as Receive a delivery (it opens Iris's guide if you haven't done it before), Go to order 1042, or a screen from the sidebar. A button only takes you there; you do the rest.
Iris knows which screen you're on. Ask what's the status of this order? on an order's page and she looks up that order.
She answers in the language you use Iraca in, whatever language you write in.
She never changes anything herself
Iris only reads. She can't create, edit, cancel or delete anything, adjust stock, send an email or take a payment, however the question is worded. When you ask her to make a change, she gives you a button to the screen or guide where you make it, and you decide there.
Figures are always in cards
Every number Iris finds (amounts, quantities, totals) is shown in a card under her words, laid out straight from your data, the same way the matching screen shows it. Her words point to the card; they never carry the figures. Each card has Open in Iraca, which takes you to the screen with the full detail.
If a card and a sentence ever seem to disagree, the card is right.
Follow-up questions
Ask the next question the way you'd ask a colleague: and the month before?, only the Amazon ones, which of those are late? Iris uses the conversation so far to understand what you mean.
Starting over, and how long a conversation lasts
Click New conversation at the top of the panel to clear it and start fresh.
A conversation lives in your browser tab. It survives moving between screens and reloading the page, and it ends when you close the tab. It isn't saved to your workspace, and you can't open it on another device.
A conversation holds up to 20 of your messages. After that Iris says it's full and offers to start a new one; she won't remember the old one.
Messages on your plan
- Free plan: 30 messages with Iris a month for your workspace, shared by everyone on the team. The panel shows how many are left under the box where you type. When they run out, Iris shows a card to see the plans; owners can upgrade from there, and anyone else is asked to check with an owner. The count starts again on the 1st of the month.
- Every paid plan: chat without a monthly limit.
See Billing and subscription for the plans.
The daily limit
Each workspace can chat a fair amount every day. If you reach the limit, Iris says she's done for today and is back tomorrow. Until then the panel still gives you:
- Go to a screen,
- the Help center,
- Contact support.
Ctrl+K also keeps working for going to screens and tasks. Workspaces with Talk to Iraca get a higher daily limit.
When Iris can't help: Contact support
If Iris can't answer twice in a row, or you ask for a person, she offers Talk to a person on the Iraca team. Click Open a support ticket and the form opens right in the panel, with the topic Iris thinks fits already chosen (you can change it; see the topics):
- the subject is Iris's suggestion and the message is what you wrote to her; change either before sending;
- Attach this conversation starts unticked. Tick it if you want the team to see what you asked Iris and what she answered (the cards go as which lookup was used, not the figures). Leave it unticked and only your message is sent.
Click Send and the card shows the ticket number with a link to it. The team answers in Help & support, and you get an email when they do. See Help & support.
From Ask Iris to the chat
When Ask Iris (Ctrl+K) answers a question, the answer has Continue with Iris. Click it and the chat opens with that question and answer already in it, ready for your follow-up.
What's sent to the AI provider, and what Iraca keeps
Iris's replies are written by an AI model from Anthropic (the company behind Claude). To answer a message, Iraca sends Anthropic:
- your message and the conversation so far (earlier cards only as which lookup was used),
- which screen you're on, today's date and your time zone,
- the screens and guides you're allowed to open,
- the results of the lookups Iris runs for you, which are the figures her cards show,
- the help articles she reads.
Your own name and email aren't part of it. Lookup results can include names from your records, such as the customer on an order, exactly as the card shows them.
Iraca keeps nothing of the conversation: not your messages, not her replies, not the cards. What Iraca stores is usage counts only: that a message was sent, which lookups it used and how many, and what it cost, with no text and no name attached. That's how the monthly and daily limits are counted.
The one exception is your choice: if you tick Attach this conversation on a support ticket, the conversation is saved with that ticket so the team can read it.
The same questions from Claude or ChatGPT
Under Iris's first answer in a conversation there's a line about Talk to Iraca, the add-on that lets you ask the same questions from your own Claude or ChatGPT. See Talk to Iraca. If your workspace already has it, the line isn't shown.
