Zones

A zone is a named region, like "Florida" or "West Coast". You create zones once, and then use them in a sales channel's routing rules to send orders headed to that region to a particular warehouse. See Routing orders to a warehouse for the rules themselves.

Zones are only about where an order is going. They aren't the same as the local delivery zones, which set delivery fees and time windows.

Anyone on your team can see the list. Owners and admins can add, edit and delete zones.

Where to find it

Open Settings and choose Zones. Everyone else can reach the same list from the link on the Warehouses page.

What a zone can cover

A zone is made of any mix of these:

  • Countries. Every address in a ticked country is in the zone.
  • States or provinces. Tick states to cover only part of a country. States are available for the United States and Canada. Use Select all in United States (or Canada) to tick them all at once, and Clear to start over.
  • Postcodes. A list of postcode patterns, described below.

An address is in a zone when both parts agree:

  1. Its country is ticked, or its state is ticked.
  2. If the zone lists postcodes, the address's postcode matches one of them. If it lists none, any postcode is fine.

A zone with only postcodes and no country or state matches on the postcode alone, in any country. A zone can't be empty: it needs at least one country, state or postcode.

The three postcode forms

Type one pattern per line, or separate them with commas.

FormExampleMatches
Exact code90210only 90210
Wildcard902*any code that starts with 902 (a * may only go at the end)
Range90200...90299every code from 90200 to 90299, both ends included
  • Spaces and capital letters don't matter. sw1a 1aa and SW1A1AA are the same code.
  • A US ZIP+4 such as 33101-1234 matches on its first five digits.
  • A range works with numbers, like the example above. For codes with letters, both ends must be the same length.

The form checks each pattern as you type and tells you which line is wrong. Nothing saves until every pattern is valid.

Deleting a zone

You can't delete a zone that a channel's routing rules still use. Iraca tells you which channels use it. Remove the zone from those rules first, then delete it.

This guide covers the Iraca app and its add-ons. The Iraca Marketplace is documented separately.
