How much you can send

Every business on Iraca sends marketing email from the same shared address, iracamail.com. Mailbox providers like Gmail judge that address as a whole, so a business that starts by emailing thousands of people at once, or keeps writing to people who mark it as spam, makes it harder for everyone's emails to reach the inbox. To keep the shared address trusted, Iraca limits how much each business sends and pauses one whose emails draw too many complaints.

You'll find where you stand under Marketing → Sender, in the Sending limits card.

Your daily limit

Your first week. For the first 7 days, starting with the day you send your first marketing email, you can send up to 100 a day. That gives mailbox providers time to see that your customers want your emails before you send more. Test messages you send yourself from the Sender screen don't count.

After that, it grows as you send. Your daily limit rises each day you actually send:

Day you sendDaily limit
1st500
2nd1,000
3rd and after2,000

Days you don't send don't count. If you send once a month, your limit grows once a month. That's on purpose: mailbox providers only learn to trust a sender from what it actually sends.

Days start and end at midnight UTC, so depending on where you are, your limit may reset during your afternoon or evening.

When you reach the limit, the rest waits until the next day. Nothing is sent twice and nothing is lost.

Your monthly allowance

Your plan includes 5,000 marketing emails a month. What happens after that depends on whether you have a payment method on file:

  • With a card on file, sending continues and the extra emails are billed at $1.50 per 1,000. They're added up once, at the start of the next month, as a single line on your next invoice (or, with no paid subscription, on a separate invoice charged to your card right away), so a month is never charged twice.
  • Without one, marketing emails stop until next month or until you add a payment method in Settings → Billing.

The Sending limits card shows how many you've sent this month.

If your marketing email is paused

Iraca watches two things over the last 30 days:

WhatWhen it pauses
Spam complaints: recipients marking your email as spamMore than 0.05% of what you sent (1 in 2,000), and at least 2 complaints
Addresses that don't existMore than 3% of what you sent, and at least 5 of them

A single complaint or a couple of dead addresses never pause you on their own.

If either line is crossed, your marketing email pauses right away. You and the other owners of your business get an email saying why, and the Sender screen shows it too. Everything else keeps working: orders, invoices, delivery updates and every other email still go out.

Only Iraca can resume a paused business. Contact Iraca support. We'll look at what was sent and to whom before resuming, because a list that draws complaints will do it again.

Keeping your emails welcome

  • Only email people who asked to hear from you. Bought or borrowed lists are the most common reason a business gets paused. Iraca only sends to customers who agreed (see Who you can email).
  • Clean up old lists before you import them. Addresses you haven't written to in years are often dead.
  • Say who you are. Customers who don't recognize the sender mark email as spam. Use your business name as the sender name (see Your marketing sender).
  • Make leaving easy. Every email has an unsubscribe link (see How customers unsubscribe). Someone who can't find it reports you instead.
