The Driver App

This article is for the people who drive the deliveries. The driver app runs in your phone's browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like any other app. It shows the routes the office has given you, what to load, where each stop is, and what proof of delivery each stop needs.

It keeps working with no signal. Everything you do is saved on your phone first and sent to the office when you're back in range.

Signing in

The office sends you the link to the app. It's also in every sign-in email.

  1. Open the link on your phone and enter your email.
  2. You'll get a six-digit code by email. Enter it and you're in. The code works once and expires after 10 minutes.

There's no password. If you sign in on a new phone, you're signed out of the old one.

Add it to your home screen

In Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. In Chrome on Android, tap the menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app. The app then opens full screen, and it opens even when you have no signal.

Today

Today lists your routes for the day, with the number of stops and the planned start. A route you didn't finish on an earlier day stays here until it's ended.

Below your routes, Your upcoming shifts lists the days the office has scheduled you to work over the next two weeks, with your hours and the warehouse you load at. If a day is missing or wrong, ask the office to change it.

Open the app once while you still have signal, before you leave. It saves the whole day on your phone, so your stops are there even if you lose signal in a loading dock or out on the road.

The load list

Tap Load list on a route to see everything that goes in the van, grouped by stop. It's in reverse order: the last stop comes first, so it goes in first and the first stop's goods come out of the door first.

  • Tap Scan to load and scan each item's barcode. Each scan counts one unit loaded.
  • Or tap Mark loaded, or use + and −, if an item has no barcode.

The load list is your own checklist. It's kept on your phone and isn't sent to the office.

Starting the route

Tap Start route when you pull out. If you forget, the route starts on its own the first time you mark a stop.

At each stop

Tap a stop to open it. The one you're on is marked Current stop.

  • Navigate opens Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze with the stop as the destination. The first time, you pick which one you use. It's remembered, and you can change it from the menu.
  • Call and Text appear on the current stop only, using the customer's number on the order.
  • Read the Delivery instructions before you knock. Gate codes and where to leave things are usually here.
  • Tap I've arrived when you get there.

Proof of delivery

The stop lists what the office needs before you can complete it. It's usually a photo, a signature, or both.

ButtonWhat to do
PhotoTake a photo of the delivery at the door. The app makes the file smaller before it's sent
SignatureHand the phone to the customer to sign with their finger, then type their name
ScanScan the barcode on the order's packing slip. If it isn't this stop's order, the app says so, so you don't leave the wrong parcel
NoteType anything the office should know

When everything needed has a tick, tap Complete delivery. Then tap Next stop.

When you can't deliver

Tap Can't deliver and choose what happened. You can add a note. If nobody was home or you couldn't get in, the app asks for a photo first, of the door or the gate. Those are the deliveries a customer is most likely to ask about later.

Keep the goods in the van. The office decides whether to try again another day or take them back into stock.

No signal

You don't have to do anything different. Keep working as normal:

  • A bar under the header says No connection, and how many things are saved, waiting to send.
  • Each stop you've dealt with shows Saved, waiting to send until the office has it.
  • When you're back in range, the app sends everything in the order you did it. It sends again if it doesn't hear back, and the office never gets the same thing twice.

If the office can't accept something, the bar turns red and says not accepted. Tap it to see why. For example, the route may have been ended from the office. You can Try again or Discard it.

WARNING

Don't sign out while things are waiting to send. They stay on your phone and are sent the next time you sign in, but the office won't have them until then.

Your location

In the Iraca Driver phone app (not in a browser), your location is recorded only while a route is running. Recording starts when you tap Start route and stops when you tap End route. It keeps going when you switch to Google Maps or Waze, so the office can follow the route.

  • Above Start route the app tells you this before you start.
  • While it's recording, a blue bar under the header says so, and on Android a notification stays on your screen.
  • Recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days.
  • Nothing is recorded before you start, after you end, or between routes.

If the bar says Location is off, allow location "Always" for the app in your phone's settings. You can still deliver without it. The office just can't follow the route.

ASAP orders

If your business offers ASAP delivery, a bar appears at the top of every screen when an order is offered to you, with a countdown. Tap it to see where the goods are, roughly where they're going (the city and postal code only), and what's in the order. Accept or Decline within the time shown. If you don't answer, it goes to the next driver.

Once you accept, the full address and the customer's first name appear, along with directions to the pickup. When you have the goods, tap I have the goods. The order is then loaded and your route starts, and you carry on through the ordinary stop screens. ASAP answers need a signal, since they can't wait in the queue: if a tap doesn't go through, the app says so. See ASAP delivery.

Ending the route

When every stop is delivered or marked can't deliver, tap End route at the bottom of the stop list. The app won't let you end a route with stops still open.

Settings

Tap the menu button at the top right to:

  • Choose your maps app.
  • Switch between English and Spanish.
  • Sign out.
  • Open this help page.
