Pickup
Some customers collect their order instead of having it shipped or delivered. Pickup is a way an order leaves your business, next to shipping and local delivery. A pickup order has a place, a day and, if you like, a time window. It never gets a shipping label and never goes on a delivery route.
Pickup is part of every plan. You don't need an add-on.
Setting up your pickup locations
- Open Settings → Pickup locations and select Add location.
- Give it a name and an address. Customers see both.
- Leave Only offer set days and hours off to accept any day and time, or turn it on and tick the days you are open, with opening and closing times. Customers can only choose days and hours you list.
- Save. Turn Offer this location off to stop taking new pickups there without losing its history.
Until you add a location, customers can't choose pickup in the portal, but you can still put an order on pickup yourself (it just won't name a place).
A location that has had orders can't be deleted. Deactivate it instead, so those orders keep their place.
Putting an order on pickup
Staff. When you create an order, tick The customer collects this order (pickup), then choose the location, the day and, if you want, a window. On an order that already exists, the Pickup card on the order screen does the same with Collect instead, Change and Take off pickup. You can change it until the order is fulfilled.
If the order was on a local delivery route, choosing pickup takes it off, and its delivery window is released.
Customers. In the customer portal's cart, a customer chooses I will pick it up, then a location and a day (only days that location is open are offered) and, optionally, roughly when. There is no delivery fee. For a menu cycle, a pickup order is always for the cycle's day.
You can't put a marketplace order (Amazon, Walmart, Etsy, TikTok) on pickup, because those are fulfilled through the marketplace.
What a pickup order doesn't do
- It can't buy a shipping label, and it isn't offered on the shipping screens.
- It isn't on pick lists, which are for parcels.
- It can't go on a delivery route, and the delivery channel rules never move it there.
Fulfilling it is the usual Fulfill: stock is deducted and the sale is booked, exactly as for any other order.
Telling the customer it's ready
When the order is packed, open it and select Mark ready for pickup. The customer gets an email with the place, the day and the window. You can send it once; Send the ready notice again sends it a second time.
The email follows the same rules as your other delivery emails:
- Settings → Pickup locations has two switches, one for retail and one for wholesale customers. Both are on to begin with.
- A customer who stopped delivery emails isn't emailed. One who chose "only important" still is, because this is the email that tells them their order is waiting.
- The email is in your customer's language (English or Spanish).
The order is marked ready either way. If no email went out, you'll see a message saying so.
The pickup list
Pickup in the sidebar (shown once you have a location) lists what to hand over for one day, grouped by location and ordered by window: who is collecting, their phone, what's in the box, whether it's marked ready and what they still owe. Pick the day and location at the top and select Print list for a sheet for the counter, with the totals to pack at the bottom.
Orders still in draft, waiting for approval or cancelled aren't on it.
Stores connected to Iraca
If a shopper on your WooCommerce store chooses the store's own Local pickup, Iraca doesn't turn that into a pickup order, because the checkout doesn't say which of your locations or which day. The order keeps shipping as it always did, and its history says so. If they're collecting it, put it on pickup yourself from the order.
