"I want to…": everything you can do

Not sure where something lives in Iraca? Open Everything you can do at the foot of the I want to… card on your dashboard (/guides), or type what you want into the search box at the top of the screen. It lists everything you can do, phrased as what you want to get done: Ship a package, Send an email campaign, Launch my online store, Run a production, Create a recipe. Pick one and Iraca takes you there. Where Iris, Iraca's guide, can walk you through it a step at a time, the task says so.

The page shows only what your business uses and your role can do. A feature you've switched off in Settings → Modules doesn't appear, so a business that doesn't make food never sees the food-safety tasks.

The groups

Everything is grouped by goal. The groups are listed down the left (across the top on a phone), each with how many tasks it holds; choose one and its tasks show beside it. The page opens on the first group, and the address remembers the one you chose (/guides?group=stock), so you can bookmark or share it. This is the standard order; your business profile can move the groups that matter most to you to the top:

GroupFor example
SellSell at the register, launch your online store, sell on Amazon, Walmart or WooCommerce, enter an order, send a quote
Ship and deliverShip an order, ship a package, print a pick list, deliver orders yourself
MakeCreate a recipe, run a production, plan the week's production, make a nutrition facts label
StockAdd your products, count your stock, receive a delivery, order from a supplier
Get paid and keep the booksAccept card and bank payments, send an invoice, see who owes you money, close the month
GrowSend an email campaign, build a customer list, bring in your customers
Stay compliantWrite your HACCP plan, trace a lot, run a mock recall
Run the businessInvite your team, change your plan or add-ons, turn features on or off

A group with nothing in it for you is left out.

Iris suggests

Under the search box, Iris suggests links up to three tasks from Iris's plan for you, the same items as the card on your dashboard. Once they're done, the row goes away.

What a task tells you

Each task is one row: a title, one line on what you'll end up with, and one button on the right:

  • ✨ Iris walks you through it means there's a guided setup for this job and you haven't finished it. Start opens it.
  • Resume means a guided setup for this job is already under way. You pick up at the step you left.
  • Open takes you straight to the screen that does the job.
  • Done with a tick and a date: you've set this up. The task moves to the end of its group and opens the screen from now on. When a setup makes sense more than once (connecting another marketplace, setting up another wholesale customer), the task also offers Run again.
  • Every week or month marks a job you come back to, like counting your stock or closing the month. Those never show as done.
  • The ? next to the button (How it works) opens the help article for the job.

Done comes from what's actually in your account: a finished guided setup, your first product, your first label. Opening a task doesn't mark anything done.

Searching

Type in the search box under the heading and the groups make way for a list of what matches, from every group, under each group's name. Words can be in any order and partly typed, accents don't matter, and each task also answers to other ways of saying it: postage finds Ship a package, website finds Launch my online store, stocktake finds Count my stock. You can also type it the way you'd say it: if every word doesn't match, the search tries again without words like create, make, add, new, a or my, so create a barcode finds Print barcodes. Press Esc to clear the search.

If nothing matches, the page says so and offers Ask Iris, which opens the command box with what you typed, so you can ask the question there. The groups stay below.

On your dashboard

The I want to… card sits at the top of the dashboard's right column. It shows four tasks:

  • The ones you do most. What you've done in Iraca over the last 30 days, most first: buy labels often and Ship a package comes first; adjust stock and Fix a stock level does. It's yours: each person on your team sees their own.
  • Then what Iris suggests, while you have little history.
  • Then the first tasks on this page, in its order.

A set-up task you've finished never takes a spot.

The search box on the card searches everything you can open, in this order:

  1. The tasks on this page.
  2. The screens in the menu (pick lists, amazon listings).
  3. For owners and admins, every settings screen with its description (webhooks, sales tax, carrier).

Press Enter to open the first result. Nothing found: the card offers Ask Iris with what you typed. Everything you can do brings you here.

On an empty screen

When Orders, Contacts, Products, Production or Purchase Labels has nothing in it yet, a short Things you can do here list sits under the empty message: the first few tasks from the matching group, the same ones and the same links as on this page, with ✨ on the ones Iris walks you through. Everything you can do brings you to this page. The list doesn't appear when the screen is empty only because of a search or a filter, and it shows only tasks you can do, so it may be shorter for a team member, or absent.

More you can do with Iraca

At the foot of the page, More you can do with Iraca shows jobs that come with an add-on your business doesn't have yet, one row per add-on. See the add-on opens it on the Billing page, where you can read what it does and its price. Nothing on this page starts a purchase.

Only people who can manage billing see this section. Add-ons that aren't on sale don't appear.

How a guided setup works

  • Nothing is hidden in a guided setup. Every step does its work on the same records the normal screens use. You can leave at any point and finish on those screens, and nothing is lost or out of step.
  • Iris suggests, you decide. Nothing that costs money, changes a price, publishes, sends an email or posts to your books happens until you tap a button that says so.
  • You can stop any time. Choose Save and finish later and the task shows Resume until you come back. A setup you haven't touched for 90 days is closed automatically.
  • Start over removes only what the setup made that nothing else uses yet. Anything with orders, sends or stock movements on it stays.
  • Set up by hand is always there. It takes you to the screen that does the job without Iris.

Anyone on the team can open a guided setup and read it. Starting one, moving between steps, finishing it or starting over needs the permission the underlying job needs, usually owner or admin. A teammate with permission can resume a setup someone else started.

Starting one from the screen it belongs to

You don't have to come to this page. Each guided setup also has a Set up with Iris button on the screen that does the same job by hand, so you can start it where you are:

ScreenButton
ProductsImport with Iris (brings in a spreadsheet or document; see Bringing in more later)
Contacts, on a customer's rowSet up as wholesale with Iris
OrdersSet up a wholesale customer with Iris, while the plan recommends it
Shipping and Settings → ShippingShip your first order (see Your first label with Iris)
A confirmed order, until your first labelShip your first order, with that order picked
Settings → PaymentsGet paid (see Getting paid with Iris)

Register (POS) and Settings → Point of SaleGet paid, Sell at the register (see Your first sale with Iris)
StorefrontGet paid, Launch your storefront (see Set up with Iris)

The button follows the setup's state: it reads Resume while a run is open, stays while the setup can run again, and goes away once a one-time setup is done. It only appears for setups your business has and you have permission to run.

More guided setups have their own articles: Launching a menu with Iris, Setting up local delivery with Iris and Counting your stock with Iris.

This guide covers the Iraca app and its add-ons. The Iraca Marketplace is documented separately.
