Local Delivery Settings
If you deliver with your own vehicles, Settings → Local delivery is where you tell Iraca where you deliver, when, and what it costs. Local Delivery is included in every plan, Free too, so the page is there from the start. Text messages to customers are metered: Standard includes 500 a month, and Free includes none. So are road-planned vehicles; see What Local Delivery costs.
New to local delivery? Setting up local delivery with Iris walks you through everything on this page, and trying an address at the end, one step at a time.
This page is the setup. Which channels' orders go on routes is on Which orders go on routes, and putting a single order on a route is covered in Local delivery orders. Who drives, and what proof of delivery they capture, is on Drivers.
Delivery fees
Three rules, all optional:
| Rule | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery fee | What delivery costs | $8.00 |
| Free delivery over | The fee drops to $0 once the order reaches this amount | Free on orders of $75 or more |
| Minimum order for delivery | Below this, the order can't be booked for local delivery | Delivery on orders of $30 or more |
The amounts at the top of the page are your business-wide defaults. Leave a field blank for none. Enter 0 for a fee to make delivery always free.
What the amounts are measured against
The free-delivery amount and the minimum are measured on the order's product total after prices and promotions. That's before sales tax and before the delivery fee itself. So a negotiated wholesale price or a promotion discount counts at what the customer actually pays, and a free-goods line counts as $0.
Tax is left out so "free over $75" means the same thing for a tax-exempt customer as for everyone else. The fee is left out because counting it would make the threshold depend on itself.
Most specific wins
Each rule can be set in three places:
- Your business default, on this page.
- A zone, for distance. A far zone usually costs more.
- A wholesale account, for terms you negotiated, like "free delivery on any order over $250".
Iraca uses the most specific one it finds, rule by rule. An account can set its own free-delivery amount and still inherit the zone's fee.
A blank field means use the level above. A 0 is a real value: a fee of 0 is always free, and a minimum of 0 means no minimum, even if your default has one.
Switching free delivery off
There's one thing a blank field can't say: "don't deliver free here, even though my default has a free-delivery amount". That's what Never free in this zone (on a zone) and Never deliver free to this account (on a contact) are for. A typical use is a far zone that should always pay.
Scheduling
Under Scheduling you choose how deliveries are booked:
- Retail customers and Wholesale accounts each get either a date and time window or a date only. By default retail gets a window and wholesale a date. Orders with no customer follow the retail setting, and a wholesale account can override it on the customer record.
- Order cutoff is for wholesale accounts with standing delivery days: an order has to come in this many hours before the day begins to go out that day. 10 means "by 2pm the day before". With 0, an order still can't go out the same day.
Routes
Under Routes you set the delivery day the route planner works within:
- Vans leave from and Back by: the start and end of the delivery day. A stop that can't be reached inside it isn't put on a route.
- Minutes per home delivery and Minutes per wholesale drop: how long the van stays at a stop before moving on. A customer's own Time per stop, on their contact record, overrides these.
- Vans return to the warehouse: whether the planned distance and duration include the drive back.
Routes themselves are built on the dispatch board.
What Local Delivery costs
Everything on this page and on the dispatch board is included in every plan and never metered: zones, windows and slots, delivery fees, weekly routes, the driver app, proof of delivery, the tracking page, customer emails, address lookup, the map, and route planning by straight-line distance. Two things are metered:
- Delivery texts: Standard includes 500 a month and Free includes none; see Delivery Notifications, Tracking and Ratings.
- Road-planned vehicles: the most vans you road-plan on any one day of the month. A route counts when it is planned with road travel times; routes planned by straight-line distance, routes you built by hand and never planned, and courier handoffs never count. Two vans that go out every weekday are two vehicles, not forty.
| Free | Standard | |
|---|---|---|
| Road-planned vehicles a month | None: routes are planned by straight-line distance | 1 included |
| Each extra vehicle that month | — | $15 |
On Free, auto-build always plans by straight-line distance, and the dispatch board says so once a day. It never refuses to plan. A legacy plan with the Local Delivery add-on keeps unlimited road planning.
Before auto-build plans a day that would take you past your allowance, it tells you: for example "This plan uses 4 vehicles. Your plan includes 1; 3 extra vehicles this month, $15 each." A day at or below the busiest day you've already had this month costs nothing more, so it says nothing. The This month card on this page shows your texts and vehicles so far, the busiest day, what's included, and the charge. Extra vehicles are billed after the month ends, as one line on your next invoice ("Local Delivery: 3 extra vehicles in October 2026"), or on an invoice of its own if you have no subscription.
Until road-time planning is switched on for your workspace, every route is planned by straight-line distance and no vehicle is counted; the This month card says when that's the case.
Customer notifications
The Customer notifications card sets which emails your customers get about a delivery (booked, the day-before reminder, out for delivery, running late, delivered, couldn't deliver), separately for retail and wholesale customers, and the public review link offered to customers who rate a delivery. See Delivery Notifications, Tracking and Ratings.
ASAP delivery
ASAP delivery is for an order that goes out the same day with no window. It has its own pricing here, and it's switched on per zone (below) and per channel (in Channels).
- ASAP fee is what an ASAP order is charged in a zone that sets none. Leave it blank to use your ordinary delivery fee.
- ASAP free over makes ASAP free from an order size. Blank means ASAP is never free for its size, even where a booked delivery is.
- If no driver takes an ASAP order, offer it to a connected courier network lets Iraca book the cheapest connected courier that accepts an order every driver declined.
How it works day to day is in ASAP delivery.
Delivery zones
A zone is a list of postal codes you deliver to. An address whose postal code isn't in any active zone can't be booked for local delivery at all.
To add one, click Add zone, give it a name and paste its postal codes, one per line or separated by commas. Iraca ignores case and spacing, so sw1a 1aa and SW1A1AA are the same code. A US address with a ZIP+4 (78701-1234) matches a zone that lists the five-digit ZIP.
Each zone can also carry its own fee, free-delivery amount and minimum, and the warehouse its deliveries leave from.
Overlapping zones
A postal code can be in more than one zone. The page warns you when it is. An address in several zones can book any of those zones' delivery windows, and pays the fees of the zone you created first. If that's not what you want, take the code out of one of the zones.
Delivery windows
A window is a recurring time you deliver, like Thursdays, 2–6pm. For each one you set:
- Day, start and end. Times are in your business's time zone (Settings → Organization).
- For: everyone, consumers only, or wholesale only.
- Deliveries per slot. Leave it blank for no limit.
- Booking closes this many hours before the window starts.
- Zones served. Only addresses in these zones can book this window.
- Weekly route. Optional: the weekly route that runs this window. Orders booked into it ride that route. The route has to run on the window's day.
Windows don't carry a fee. Delivery is priced by zone and account, not by the time of day.
Upcoming slots
Iraca turns each active window into dated slots three weeks ahead, and adds the next ones every night. Saving a window adds its slots straight away. Generate now fills in anything missing.
Editing a window doesn't move booked slots
A slot copies its times and capacity from the window when it's created. If you change a window, the change applies to slots created from then on. Slots already on the calendar keep their times and capacity, because customers may already have booked them.
To stop bookings on one date, a holiday or a van off the road, click Close on that slot. Reopen undoes it. Once orders are booked into a slot, it can't be deleted with its window; deactivate the window instead, so those deliveries keep their slot.
The Booked column counts the orders in each slot. A cancelled order gives its place back.
Checking a postal code
Check a postal code, at the bottom of the page, shows what a customer at that address would get: which zones they're in, the next open slots, and the delivery fee for the order amount you enter, including how much more they'd need for free delivery.
Your public delivery-area page
Customers who find you online often want to know one thing first: do you deliver to me? Turn on Public delivery-area page at the bottom of this page and Iraca publishes a page where anyone can type a postal code and see:
- whether you deliver there,
- on which days, and the next delivery day,
- the delivery fee, the order amount for free delivery and the minimum order.
It never shows your routes, your drivers, your windows' names or how full a day is. A postal code in one of your zones whose days are all booked still shows as served, with its next delivery day.
Once it's on, the card shows the page's link with Copy. Put it on your website, in your social bios or in an email. Add ?postal_code=33139 to the end of the link to open the page with that code already checked. Turning the switch off takes the page down right away; the link then says the page isn't available.
The page is off until you turn it on, because it publishes your service area. Only owners and admins can change it.
Delivery terms on a wholesale account
Open a wholesale customer from Contacts → Edit. With the add-on, the form has a Delivery terms section with the same three rules and the Never deliver free checkbox. Blank fields use the zone, then your default.
Delivery terms are wholesale only. A retail customer can't have them, and Iraca won't switch a customer with delivery terms to retail until you clear them, the same way it protects credit limits and price lists.
