Delivery Drivers
Settings → Local delivery → Drivers is where you add the people who drive your delivery routes. It's part of the Local Delivery add-on.
A driver signs in to the driver app on their phone and sees only the routes you give them: the stops in order, what to load, and what proof of delivery each stop needs. Drivers aren't team members. They don't use any of your seats and can't see anything else in your account, which suits contractors as well as staff.
Adding a driver
- Select Add driver.
- Enter their name and email. Sign-in codes are sent to this address, so use an inbox they check on their phone.
- Add a phone number if you like, so the office has it to hand.
- Choose the language of their sign-in email, or leave it on your business's document language.
Each email can be one driver at your business. Someone who drives for two businesses on Iraca has a separate sign-in at each.
How drivers sign in
There's no password. A driver enters their email in the driver app and gets a six-digit code by email, from your business name, in their language. The code works once and expires after 10 minutes. Signing in on a new phone signs them out of the old one.
Sending drivers the app
The Driver app link card on this screen has your business's driver app address, with a Copy link button. Send it to your drivers however suits you. The same link is in every sign-in email, so a driver who has the email can always get back to the app.
The Driver App walks through the app from the driver's side. It's written for them, so you can send it along with the link.
Giving a driver a route
On the dispatch board, choose the driver from the Driver list on each route. A driver sees a route once it has been dispatched, and until it's over. You can change the driver after dispatch, for example if someone calls in sick.
Deactivating a driver
Select Deactivate when someone stops driving for you. They're signed out of the driver app straight away and can't sign back in. Their past routes, and the proof of delivery they captured, stay on record. Reactivate lets them sign in again.
You can only delete a driver who has never had a route. Anyone who has driven is deactivated instead, so their deliveries keep a name.
Proof of delivery
Settings → Local delivery → Proof of delivery decides what a driver has to capture before they can mark a stop delivered. Set it separately for retail and wholesale customers:
| Proof | What the driver does |
|---|---|
| Photo | Takes a photo at the door |
| Signature | Has the customer sign on the screen, and types who signed |
| Scan of the packing slip | Scans the barcode on the order's packing slip. A scan from another order is refused, so the wrong parcel can't be marked delivered |
| Note | Types a note |
Until you change it, retail deliveries need a photo and wholesale deliveries need a signature. Leaving an audience with nothing ticked means drivers can complete those stops straight away.
A customer marked Requires a signature on their contact always needs a signature, on top of whatever their audience needs.
When a driver can't deliver, they choose a reason. If nobody was home or they couldn't get in, they have to take a photo first: those are the deliveries a customer is most likely to question.
Where proof is kept
Photos and signatures show customers' homes, faces and signatures, so they're stored privately. They never have a web link. You open them from the stop on the dispatch board, and only people signed in to your account can.
Every proof records when it was taken on the phone and when it reached Iraca. A driver in a spot with no signal keeps working: their captures are sent once they're back in range, and the time taken is still the real one.
Who can do what
Owners and admins can add, change, deactivate and delete drivers, and set proof of delivery. Other team members can see the list.
