Your First Label with Iris

The Ship your first order guide takes you from "I've never bought a label" to a label printed for a real order, one step at a time: how labels are paid for, where you ship from, the boxes you use, and the label itself.

Start it from the Shipping dashboard or Settings → Shipping (the Ship your first order with Iris button), from a confirmed order's page while you've never bought a label, or from I want to….

What the guide does, and what it never does

Nothing is charged or bought until you tap the button that says so: Add funds in the wallet, Subscribe on a label block, or Buy on the label. Every step writes through the same screens you'd use by hand, so you can leave at any point with Save and finish later and finish in Shipping → Settings or from the order.

1. How labels are paid

Every label Iraca bills shows two lines: the postage and Iraca's fee. The guide shows both on a $9.00 label at your plan's rate, and says which kind your next label will be:

  • Included in your plan: the first labels of each month on Standard and Scale carry no fee.
  • From your label block: no fee, while the block lasts.
  • Pay as you go: the plan's percentage, with a minimum and a maximum per label.

Below that are the same Shipping Wallet and Label blocks cards as Shipping → Settings, with your plan's terms, the last 30 days at the other plans, and this month's labels. You can top up by card or bank transfer here, or open Billing to buy a block. Both are optional; labels come out of the wallet, so it needs funds before you buy one. See Buying a label for how blocks and fees work.

2. Your packages

Where you ship from is your default warehouse's address. Carriers need the street, city, state, ZIP code and country, and your customer's tracking page shows the city. The guide won't go on to the label until the address is complete. Saving it here changes the warehouse too.

Your boxes are saved as shipping presets: a name, a weight and three sides. Rates are priced on them, so you need at least one. The first becomes your default. If some of your products have no weight, the guide tells you how many: their orders are priced on the box's weight until you add them.

3. Your first label

Pick an order to ship. The list shows confirmed orders that have no label yet, and you can search it by order number or customer. Then tap Get rates: the usual Buy Label window opens, with every rate's postage and fee shown apart. Choose one and tap Buy. Once it's bought, print the label and packing slip together.

If your wallet is empty, Get rates waits until you've added funds on the first step.

No order yet?

Tap No order yet: show me a sample quote, type a destination ZIP code, and you'll see sample rates for your default box, each with its two lines. Nothing is bought from there. You can finish the guide without a label and buy one later from any order's page.

Finishing and starting over

Finish closes the guide and changes nothing else.

Start over removes the boxes you added in this guide, as long as no label has been bought since you added them. It never refunds a label: a label you bought stays bought. To get your money back for a label you won't use, refund it from the order.

Owners and admins can run the whole guide. With team roles, anyone who can buy labels can pick an order and buy; adding boxes, finishing and starting over need permission to manage shipping settings, and changing the warehouse address needs permission to manage inventory. Other team members can open the guide and read along.

This guide covers the Iraca app and its add-ons. The Iraca Marketplace is documented separately.
